A few projects and networks we've worked with
A few projects and networks we've worked with
Chris’s career started in 1999 chasing car accidents and shooting Friday night football for a news station in Fresno, CA. His documentary hand held work earned him a reputable name and the opportunity to shoot for the COPS tv show, then on FOX where he filmed life unfold, unscripted. His love for documentary filming took him global several times over with CBS's The Amazing Race and other adventure non scripted shows before landing in New York shooting shiny floor competition shows.
It was there on the show Project Runway Allstars where Chris and JR first met. Chris offered JR half of his breakfast sammy one morning and they were friends ever since, later joining forces to create Southpaw Films. He believes in connecting with like minded, talented people to produce meaningful stories to move the mind. Chris's strong points are producing fresh, new ideas and connecting with other storytellers to collaborate with. His not so strong points are trying to take on too much.
Chris works closely with a strong creative team and is always on the look out for connecting with like minded creative filmmakers far better than him. He strives to have fun on set and work with the very best in the industry for a better product. In 2011, Chris was nominated for a Prime Time Emmy Award with the cinematography team for his work on CBS’s The Amazing Race.
To date, Chris's best gig is being a Dad to two beautiful boys and husband to his beautiful, loving wife Melissa of fifteen years. When not working, Chris and his family enjoy meeting with friends at community events, getting outside and cooking together. Chris also has a deep affinity for sharing the universal language of food and good spirits, connecting with other people from the heart.
Since 1997 JR has worked as a Cinematographer and Camera Operator on just about every kind of production imaginable. As a young buck he began his career filming non fiction network TV shows and documentaries. Years later JR started to move his focus into larger budget commercial production, eventually moving into narrative feature films and episodic TV. Such a broad spectrum of work has given him the ability to not only create beautiful imagery but also how to document and tell gripping stories.
Some highlights over the last few years have been working as camera operator and or 2nd unit DP on projects such as Creed, The Walking Dead, Ozark, Brawl In Cell Block 99, Stranger Things, and many more. Years of TV and film production has not only shaped him into a distinguished DP/Camera Operator but also a producer and director. JR truly loves what he does. His creative, collaborative and “can do” attitude continually lead to awesome stories and moving images.
There’s more to life than just work. JR has a beautiful wife of 14 years and two crazy boys. They keep him busy. Some of their favorite family activities are boating on Lake Allatoona, camping, hiking, knife forging and welding and even clay target shooting.
